The Spark
The exotic caress of love Flicks its tongue behind your ear. It wanders fleetingly Down the line of your dress, Shocking you with its tenderness.
You thought that you had forgotten About love,
A sweet but distant memory.
Maybe you even forgot That you were a Woman. Besieged by soaps And lonely walks around the park.
Yet it only takes a certain smile. Like a message in a bottle, Sent first class, to re-ignite the spark.

I like this David, it has that element of surprise with the subtleties of passion. ~ BNM

Thanks folks ... this one is a couple of years old, but I thought I would drag it out for an airing!

the man just flows so perfect in verse, it is like a full course meal, all the trimmings, concise and exact, a fine jeweler wordsmith

I absolutely agree, Jam. Which is why I am always bumping his works back up to the top. I miss him writing, like the old days. But, I guess when you work online all day, the last thing you want to do is stay online and try to form a decent poem. David's works should be read by everyone. If anyone ever told me, "we will publish one of you, but, not both of you" I would choose David's work over mine any day of the week. He is a master wordsmith, a distiller of the written word.
