things aren't easy, here
there, or anywhere
but i do the best i can
with what i have to work with
truth is i was born
the wrong side of the tracks
but with a pen in my hand
taking jabs and stabs at the skin
of the world, tattooing it
with dots, dashes
characters and letters of inky black
the clarity of which may mottle and fade
but, i'll always be a stain upon your mind
