where giving everything sometimes simply isn't enough return to stillness silence of the heart
Be still in the gathering gloom watch lights fad from every room cold hearted orb rules the night robs the colors from our sight red is gray and yellow is white but we decide which is right and which is an illusion (that is to paraphrase the Moody Blues)
yes some burdens weigh far heavier than others release from the past would seem to mean nothing when faced with overwhelming task or opposition or oppression but we should never forget the light that shines from within
50 years in a life and how might we gage our success? up against the vast history of injustice? to be balanced focused and centered does not mean we are rendered ineffectual but quite the contrary would be true yet so many would resist this simple practice
i've stood alone nearly all of my life a simple victim in this comedy of errors compromised and defenseless the prisoner of life long chronic physical obstructions the subject of relentless small town persecutions eventually all things must fad into the past as long as we agree never to stir the muddy waters hidden in our practice
but there comes a day where we must turn and face the vastness of this injustice and stand up against the storm of relentless persecutions alone where life quite literally hangs in the balance transcendence is easy but living on purpose requires every ounce of energy we've got putting the past into proper perspective behind us once and for all where it belongs setting the record straight
what better cause for being a poet?
Taoism means almost anything and nothing to almost everyone Enlightenment must be forged within the context of this world there is no other pretext for being awakened... in spirit

"Once one has advanced to illumination, and inside and outside are lucid and clear, then one can conceal one's illumination and nurture it unbeknownest to others.."
mind of a child
withdrawing artificial fire leaving minding entering unminding nurturing illumination in profound silence so that the mind in which illumination is cancealed might be revealed...
the master is often criticized not using the artificial fire naturally there is real fire causing one to appear ignorant and inarticulate which people dislike so there is unavoidable slander and criticism withdrawing the fire before injury there might be outward difficulty but inwardly one is not hurt understanding when to advance and when to withdraw
~*~*~*~
"If you enliven the mind of Tao, then you can deal with danger; if you can withdraw the human mind you can get out of danger."
"Once one has seen the mind of Tao, false and true are distinguished; at peace, in accord, essence is stabilized..."
"The mind of an infant does not discriminate or cog- nize, has no greed or ambition - this is the mind of Tao. When one has the mind of Tao one is a great person; without the mind of Tao one is a petty person. Getting rid of the human mentality is not possible without seeing the mind of Tao; only when seeing the mind of Tao can one get rid of the human mind. So 'it is profitable to see a great person' simply means it is beneficial to see the mind of Tao."

thanks bnm... sometimes it seems we may draw our inspirations from the most unexpected places and circumstances....
there are painful moments in every life but occassionally the light does shine in... happiness or sadness fear anger or hate even the great joy of awakening can not be be sustained and is the reflection of change but to cling to our mistakes all the opportunities lost or the passage of our greatest joy the absence of loved ones, all this things as painful as they maybe if we hold to our remorse like some badge of honor and become bitter or withdrawn in our suffering dispair, does to some appear to be the end of life how do we reverse this flow of enevitable conditioning and begin to live again? some carry scares from childhood abuse, many of us do and yet not all of us remain the victim of betrayed and helpless innocence - this would appear among the most difficult scares to heal which lead to, not unexpectedly, the very real possibility that those we choose in relationship tend to confirm this image of pain in our hearts so the cycle continues until we grow out of it... we are more than this we can change the program into lasting happiness even as the whole world crubbles around us be greatful for these moments we share in the oneness of spirit

"All the things that man has put together have to be totally abandoned. That's what it means to die. So can you do it? Will you try it? Will you experiment with it? Not for just a day; every day. No, sir, you cann't do it; your brains are not trained for this. Your brains have been conditioned so heavily, by your education, by your tradition, by your books, by your professors. It requires finding out what love is. Love and death go together. Death says be free, nonattached, you can carry nothing with you. And love says, love says - there is no word for it. Love can exist only when there is freedom, not from your wife, from a new girl, or a new hus- band, but the feeling, the enourmous strength, the vitality, the energy of complete freedom."
"So living is dying. You understand? Living means that every day you are abandoning everything that you are attached to. Can you do this? A very simple fact, but it has tremendous implications. So each day is a new day. Each day you are dying and incarnating. There is tremendous vitality, energy there because there is nothing you are affraid of. There is nothing that can hurt. Being hurt doesn't exist."
~*~*~*~*~
"No description can ever describe the origin. The origin is absolutely quite, it's not whirring about making noise. Creation is something that is most holy, that's the most sacred thing in life, and if you have made a mess of your life, change it. Change it today, not tomorrow. If you are uncertain, find out why and be certain. If your thinking is not straight, think straight logically. Unless all that is prepared, all that is settled, you cann't enter into this world, into the world of creation.
"It ends."
Krishnamurti

some call it God or goddess or existential existence in humanistic forms saying we are no more than creatures in endless search of pleasure whereas indigenous cultures might call it great spirit Jung in his limited study of far east traditions simply names the 'immortal within' outside of occidental conscription... What is the awakened mind?
there are no judgements in the mind of God or in the eyes of a child inocence does not judge true forgiveness first begins with oneself we must first find acceptance and forgiveness within our own hearts before we can truly be present for another

The path of obediant progress once feelings are forgotten illumination is restored no longer focused on externals the mind is empty desires are swept away disharmony is reconciled penetrating the barrier between yin and yang
"When right in the midst of disharmony, it is sufficent to seek to avoid the human mentality ruining things - how can one dare hope great matters will turn out well."
Where essence is disturbed and life is shaken separated from the Tao shedding light on externals illumination is concealed artificial understanding emerges discriminating consciousness takes charge of affairs following what it desires adjustment is necessary in reconciliation of yin and yang refining oneself mastering the mind thereby awaiting the newborn quintessential the great medicine is revealed...
"Excellence or inferiority in learning to comprehend essence and life is all a matter of finding out prin- ciple. Understanding one part, you can practice one part; understanding ten parts, you can practice ten parts. If you know essence and not life, or know life but not essence, or know striving but not nonstriving, or know the medicinal substances but not the firing process, or know the start but not the finish, this is all incomplete investigation of principle, which will inevitably result in failure of practice."
"When you investiagte and find out true principle, it is clear in the mind and evident in practice; fully realizing essence and perfecting life, it is unfailingly developmental and beneficial."
The Taoist I Ching
he did he said he would he could but now he's dead who knew him well? i'm not saying that everyone should want to learn to die before they die, but that such things are not necessarily up to the individual such lofty goals can almost never be reached because the more we seek to understand the less we are capable of actually knowing once our cup is full how can it be filled again if not first then made empty this cup is the content of our personal history and all the self importance we have attached to it
how far can the eye see? the universe is vast it's wisdom repleat how could this connection be put into words... held in concepts or static forms... i me mine conscription where east meets west - what is awakened mind?
"Practioners of the Tao should not fail to assimulate to others, yet should not be too much like others either. If they do not assimulate, they will startle and amaze the ignorant and ordinary people, and will be disliked and suspected by others; if they become too similar, however, they will be caught up in the influence of mundane feelings. Therefore they are dif- ferent in the midst of sameness."
"They merge with the ordinary world and harmonize their illumination, responding to people harmoniously, able to adapt without restriction, assimilating to everyone. Emulating the way fire lights things up, they clearly distinguish truth and falsity, dealing with people without confussion, inwardly autonomous, having extraordinary self control."
"In cultivating practice, one conforms and harmonizes, adapting to each individual situaltion as it is; nobody can fathom such changes, or see how on acts or lies hidden." Taoist I Ching
No guilt No shame No fear No blame only the presence of infinate wisdom forgiveness and understanding treasures beyond belief

"The results of light entering are many. you experience happiness, even if you were suffering before. When you work you do so without strain and attachment."
"When our devotion, surrender, and humility grow deeper and deeper, then knowledge will come from Paramatman and will make things clearer and clearer."
"The light always brings happiness - knowledge does not necessarily come with the light."
"As you grow you will see your defects more clearly. This is due to the grace of the divine."

"Always remember 'one dong/one jing' (one move/one stillness). For every move there is an advance and a with- drawal and a change from movement to stillness. Be clear and precise, don't become confused, and practice consistently. Eventually practice will integrate into your daily life. Merge yin and yang, the dragon and the tiger. Remember always one 'move' one 'calmness.'"

"Let the Tao be present in your life and you will become genuine."
"Close your mouth, block off your senses, blunt your sharpness, untie your knots soften your glare, settle your dust... this is the primal identity."
"Those who talk don't know. Those who know don't talk."
"The master lets all things come and go without desire. He never expects results, thus he is never disappointed. He is never disappointed thus his spirit never grows old."
"Whoever is planted in the Tao will not be rooted up. Whoever embraces the Tao will not slip away."
"Simplicity, patience, compassion these three are your greatest treasures.
"Simple in action and in thought you return to the source of all things.
"Patient with both friends and enemies, you accord with the way things are.
"Compassionate toward yourself you reconcile all beings in the world."
"Be like the Tao, it cann't be approached or withdrawn from; or harmed, honored or brought into disgrace. It gives itself up continually, that is why it endures."
"If you close your mind in judgements and traffic with desires, your heart will be troubled. If you keep your mind from judging and aren't lead by the senses your heart will find peace."
"When you recognize the children and find the Mother, you will be free of sorrow."
"Creating without possessing, acting without expecting, guiding without interfering, that is why love of the Tao is in the very nature of things."
"In the beginning was the Tao. All things issue from it. All things return to it. To find the origin trace back the manifestation."
"Seeing into darkness is clarity, knowing how to yield is strength, use your own light and return to the source of light. This is called practicing eternity."
Tao te Ching

Crossroads and choices making the unpopular statements... paying the consequences for our actions... we live in the collective archetypical soup of creation... Dare we to stand against the storm? road maps and destinations what would it mean to operate in reverse? yesterday, today or tommorow when do we live our lives? there is no time like the present for putting things into perspective otherwise what is the point in existence mere cogs in a machine? burnt by dead religion we are left with only ourselves who are we now?
Visions, phantasms, dreams in precognition... spells, hexes and the cursed or be damned... bad wishes abound in abundance... when we give our power away what is this thin fabric of presumptive reality between liner or circular logic?

Wow! A ton of thoughts and observations here. More than I can handle in one setting so I'll be coming back. Great ideas. Sometimes we feel like nothing more than the tiniest speck of dust in infinite universe. Easy to get lost. Sometimes the only thing you can do is find the smaller but energetic universe inside. Nice job here. Straightforward and coherent,

Thanks rrw, i know i kinda got off the darkness track for a while yet here at the end i hope i was - however unintentionally - able to link back into it... funny how things tend too fall into place i could write taoist poetry all day and many times i find myself purposefully pulling away from it... it is another state of being all together voice of the awakened mind best kept hidden... still i do feel a rather monumental epic coming on in spirit tl

the ultimate goal to be able to identify and respond which side of the coin you're upon... then act accordingly either we are gathering inaccesibility or promoting change by getting rid of the old and not using it a cauldron obtains the new - all depends which side of the coin you're on - the false departing the real arriving returning to the origin uniting nature and sense getting back to the fundamental refining the self emptying the mind bidding one's time until the right moment arrises then sensing is swift inwardly still outwardly joyous tranquil and unstirring yet sensitive and effective subtly penetrating the barrier between heaven and earth permanently incorruptible gold unemotional sense with geat power be still inaccessibility is concealment of strength know when is the time to act and when to withdrawl so as to avoid fault those who cling to the temporal who stick to the conditioned miss it even when it is right before them know when to hasten when to relax foster strength in action nurture strength in stillness
Fire and water Abundance and transience Excessive smallness or Truthfulness within Settled or unsettled Not one state is any better than the other where all things meet at the center of balance in harmony Gradualness or Making a young girl marry awaiting the proper time or contesting for victory step off the wheel enjoy the dance
therefore the master concerns himself with the depths and not the surface he does nothing leaving nothing undone

where wrong and right do not exist investigate the principle of waxing and waning yin and yang circulating energy mechanism of heaven and earth reverse operation of sages path before time was not viloated by nature upsurp creation turn life and death around getting rid of intellectualism shut out conditioning influences return to the fundamental original foundation essence and life are as one the image of wholeness

where there is more certainity in ones foundation what difference between yes or no? must we do what other people do? think what other people think - value what others value avoid what others avoid how rediculous - care about other peoples approval and you will remain their prisoner using essence to seek feeling restore the primal while in the temporal snatch the true yang from within feeling and restore it to essence appling correctness in the midst of incorrectness the Tao is infinate and unfathomable... before time and space were the Tao is... it is beyond is and is not how do we know this is true? we look inside ourselves and see
opening the gate of life shutting the door of death is like the majesty of tiger always being present... changing without changing yang strength that is correctly balanced inwardly autonomous fostering yang suppressing yin certainty without deviation changes like a tiger
"If right and wrong are not differentiated and true and false are not distinguished, but both all are overthrown together, and one enters into nihilistic quietism, this is not correct and so is not fruitful; and not being fruitful it is not creative or developmental."
"This path is not hard to know; what is hard is to carry it out."
