~Witch?
In the sixteenth century a man could label me. Thereby trapping my soul with fatal slander and that alleged decree-one single word- "Witch!"- a pointed finger, and nothing more...
I would be put to trial by water; and dare I swim, not sink and die- but survive-lose my life anyway; in the ensuing trial by fire...
All because a man coveted my home and property. Callously uncaring if I had to lose my life for him, to get what he valued inestimably... If, as a woman, I was not amenable to selling...
And yet, I was accused of having congress, with the Devil...
~Sabrina K. Henderson 10/2004
~*~
Witches...
All born female are witches, whether Wiccan or otherwise... If you don't believe it to be so, just ask any man... Bespelled, entranced and traduced, to the village idiot, in the presence, of a mere woman, a naturally born witch...
~Sabrina

to bear the label of witch as a child, is an odd adventure...
ostracized as such, because other children were taught your mother's religion
was a sin...paganistic...of Satan... by their equally ignorant parents...
and the oddly infamous name didn't help the situation...
your own parents saddled you with... not knowing, a teenaged cartoon witch
would soon carry it, as well... towards the mid and end of the sixties...
yes, an odd adventure as a child... to have your childish peers chase you
boys hounding you...witch! turn me into a frog... or throwing stones at you while they chanted
blood drinker! baby killer! my momma says your momma sacrifices babies and drinks their blood, witch!
recess on the school playground sucked... i spent my time running, dodging flying stones...
sometimes, i was successful at playing rabbit... zigging and zagging away from them...
bruises, lumps or scratches that trickled blood, if i wasn't... if i was fortunate, knicked in an arm or hand, not my head...
every once in a while, this childish adventure turned fun...I managed to give as good as I got...
pick up a stone or two, and leave a mark of blue... on one or more of my bratty tormentors...
and sometimes, in pure desperation to be left alone... i'd act like i was putting a curse on them...
waving my hands, speaking in couplets and ryhmes, wriggling my fingers...
and watch in shock, as they turned and ran from me... actually, believing the nonsense they spewed at me...
for if i was a witch...they wouldn't have been able to sit... thanks to my curses that had put boils on their arses...
ggglgggl...
Sabrina.
*inspired by a few chapters of my childhood, in elementary school...little boys can be such jugheads, but, yes?*

The ongoing history (herstory?) whereby tha de-feminisation of essence - largely through persecution and then by social/political/religious conditioning - is turning, slowly ... *grin.
Man's fear/denial of Woman (and vice versa but that is still largely condoned) has to change otherwise everyone is spiritually scuppered, most of all the magic of completion, the yin yang you have spoken of before.
Fear of another usually mirrors fear of oneself but few are ready or willing to see that ... the Elders must be flapping their wings with grumpiness at our revelatory and crazy tardiness by now LOL
I like the factual nature of this, it is true that many territorial battles were *sorted out* by legalised murder and witch-hunts were, at their most simplistic core, another expression of this.

The Elders have asked me to convey, their pleasure at the growing 'feminine' energy here.
We are on the cusp of a great change in consciousness..

Witch Woman
*somewhat inspired by an image that BNM used in his piece, Cherub's Remembrance*
Witch woman, whatcha thinking? As universes leak from your longlashed eyes in ichorously slow, thick dribbles of starshot nascence?
All about you, the cloud people dance in exaggerated postures across the open skies of your thoughts...
Somewhere a thunderbird roars... A phoenix rises from the dead cold of ashes... And a butterfly lifts off on gossamer wings of black and blue...
And still, I look at you and wonder...
Witch woman, whatcha thinking? As universes leak from your longlashed eyes in ichorously slow, thick dribbles of starshot nascence?

wOw nir, this is my first time down here in the dungeon, very interesting insight into your youth. Well of course I used to watch 'Bewitched' on TV as a child, no doubt you fell prey to a well broadcasted stereotype ... ah well ... on the bright side I recall Sabrina as being a good witch in this series ... seriously though the impact on your childhood years must have been incredible. Always a great read here.
peace as always, Bernie

ggglgggl...dinner is an almost complete vegetarian... the mention of veal, beef, turkey or chicken, probably grossed him out...LOL...good thing being boiled alive didn't bother dinner...grrrrreat to see you hanging out in the dungeon, Sammy! would you care for some kippers, or sauteed eel? perhaps some hagus?
I so sorry...Even when I set out to brew up an epicurean's delight of a nine course meal...It comes out smelling and looking like hagus, not veal...*t-he*
So, forget cooking! I'm ordering pizza delivered to the dungeon!
Wiggles her fingers and an "old fashioned" telephone booth appears. Which she quickly steps into, promptly dials a number she obviously knows by heart, Mr.Jim's; and begins placing an order to feed at least forty-two, or is it forty-three, hungry poets, members, and guests, now?
Making sure at least three of the tomato sauced pies are Mr. Jimetarian's...Everything veggie you can imagine upon them, cheese and no meat! Being rather partial to that kind herself...
sweet dreams, sweet pretties... don't let the bedbugs bite... unless you want them, to... got no zing left in my zither... no zang left in my synthesizer... must mean, i havn't slept in a while... so, nightie-night, folks! read and write on!

Nice, Ladies. Is it very nice to eat all the men? I'm not saying I am against it anyway. Just you know....Polite conversation? No, I am not secretly plotting against you! No, no, no. That would be absolute nonsense. (By the way I like the name Sabrina. Lol.) That was just random. Would you believe My cauldron can only be seen by me? It's quite...convenient, if I may say so myself. On those dark nights...The unexpecting peasants...Wander by....

hehehehe...we get hungry enough down here in the Dungeon, we'll eat bugs! ggglgggl... we just got lucky a man wandered by the cauldron that day...hehehehehe...
thanks on name liking...it's my "real" name...my birth name? Anirbas is it spelled backwards... Nir was one of the nicknames Anirbas was shortened to at another site by others... it's quicker to type, so I like it...Nir
P.S. Unexpected peasants for dinner? Invite us over when you're having them...ggglgggl... I'll bring chocolate cake for dessert, might have a couple of pissants in it, though... I'll add anything to thicken the batter when I'm running low on flour...LOL...
Take care, you and the crew, Chaos...I'm headed off for a bit to don my walking shoes... See if I can't walk off some of these dratted hormones raging through my system, at the moment...I HATE PMS...Wish there was a cure or a spell for that...And then, she woke up...

Hey! Do you have whole cumin in your spices or do you use ground? If you have whole, throw about a good tablesppon into some water and bring to a boil. Let it brew about ten minutes and sweeten to taste and sip!!! Very calming and good for cramps or the dreaded PMS symptons.... Sam (flying by)

sometimes, this witch of a female... feels more like Rip van Winkle...
as though I fell asleep one day... and my life kept going on in slow motion while I meandered around in hazy circles, sleepwalking until I ran into a brick wall...
and instead of knocking myself out... woke myself up with the impact...
to find the scenery had moved... the terrain wasn't the same as when I'd closed my eyes even as I kept plodding along...
but, I still had a handful of snarled and knotted strings cutting into the palm of my hand like razor wire or angel hair...

Mike! I didn't know you'd been here! Didn't mean to seem to ignore you, mi compadre! I am so beaming, blushing and grinning after reading your comments! Thanks a million! Great to see you, I might add, hanging out, mixing and mingling with the rest of the poetical crew! Welcome to the Dungeon addition of the 'Seasons! LOL...It's not really the dungeon, it's where we stow our fairytales and more fancifully inclined poeming and major silliness betwixt and between the inhabitants, as you can see in some of our comments... You take care, too and thanks again! Sabrina.
