Fantasy’s Child.
I thought I was immune from reality Until it checked in through my door Now I’m wondering where the vaccine is As I don’t want these feelings anymore
I want to go back to playing fantasy Slaying dragons from my castle walls To hide behind my sofa with covered eyes As the room around me quakes and falls
But I know I can’t go back to playing games The nursery door is slamming tight Fantasy’s child is learning how to walk Holding reality in his arms as he sleeps tonight

I have always thought this one of your most beautiful and profound works, David... So, glad you dragged it from your Davidic archives and brought it here...Sabrina

Fears and expectations... Just a couple more of our life long companions... That follow we humans about like soulmates of the antagonistic variety... Either agoraphobically getting in our way or goading us to dare to do and be more than we are... Love, Sabrina

this child of fantasy is worn to a frazzle...
tuckered out to the ninth degree...
so off to be bed with me... to envision sweet dreams of thee...
*good to see you feeling better, darling*

David, for the first time I came across "Fantasy's Child," so exquisitely written. I like the way you wrote it -- straightforward narrative of what it feels like to emerge from childhood and all that helps us get through childhood (not always an easy time of life, as some would have you think). I especially enjoyed your reference to holding reality in your arms while sleeping -- very beautiful! Best regards, Monica
