you mentioned somewhere
that you do enjoy dragonflies
so this poem is an offering to you
and it's interesting that my publisher
feels that this piece is "ridiculously funny"

DRAGONFLY DETERMINATION
... ...
I Dragonfly
have a score to settle
with yon varmint 'Fizz~Fizz'
comical Wish~Dragon of this realm
...
as once again she sneezes
her impromptu flame has thus
scorched my delicate derrière
singed my Byzantine wings
...
such rot I dare not
tolerate much longer
though our fine friendship
most surely has its own merits
... ...
hence I have a surprise for her
for my bite is worse by far
than her fire-breath
or her sneeze
...
and her robust rump
is far sensitive more
to the tenacious grip
of my needle-like tongs
...
as such and at last
I shall successfully prove
size is of little consequence
when it applies to determination

rather like the hiccups
in the very middle
of a sex-dream

you must think
you are so clever
able to hover in place
near to motionless it seems
and yet in the slightest flicker of time
instantly dash away to nowhere at full acceleration

perchance 'twas your dragonfly-daredevil demeanor
that propelled you forthwith elsewhere
or perchance 'twas the sudden
burst of a butterfly-burp
that blasted you
out of control
gyrating

CREATURE-CLOWNS

that sudden burst
of a butterfly-burp
has now met its equal
even been surpassed by
the involuntary gust
of a dragonfly-fart
which then succumbs
to She-Dragon-sneezes
oh what could follow next ?
perhaps hummingbird-hiccups ?
... ...
goofy creature-clowns
of folklore and fantasia
all your noisy cacophony
is lightheartedly deliberate
thinking your comical soirée
is ever so delightful and witty
believing your ridiculous sport
as such is quite the entertainment
though I dare not let you see me giggling
for it may entice you to continue your broo-ha-ha
