clouds drape the cedars in misty folds that dampen the hoarse calls of ravens as they greet the day
from grey to white to ruby sun rises to blue sky mists slowly disclose the mossy bones of ancient limbs
these earthbound giants who dwell here are unmoved by my cry they only serve the sacred spring that wells from earth to sky and breathe our breath alive again

Thanks, David. It would have been better if the trees in the photo were actually cedars. I think they are pine or spruce. Oh well, minor detail. I would love to travel to the west coast cedar forests and take some photos there. Bella Coola has some fabulous trees. Maybe someday....

a treat to read anything you write, Glenn...old or new...agree with David, the image goes well with your words...cedars, or not...hope you make it to Bella Coola, someday, too...

I bought a digital camera just a couple of months ago. Still learning how to use it. It came with a 70 page operator's manual! Yeeks!
I had grown quite used to my old Minolta SLR and all the quirks of film, but I can see definite advantages to the digital format. It's great being able to see on the LCD screen what the photos look like without having to wait a week for film to be developed. I always would end up tossing out half of the prints afterward, so I am really happy about being able to do away with that bit of unnecessariness. Instant feedback--great stuff.
By the way, the photo that was added into this forum (at top) is very nice. Great shot. Is that one of yours, David?

By the way, the photo that was added into this forum (at top) is very nice. Great shot. Is that one of yours, David? Yes it's one I took near the village when I lived in Spain. It was taken in an olive grove, and the (acequia); irrigation channel you can see in the shot dates back to the time of the moors! I also used the same photograph to illustrate the poem Watercourse which is posted on this page.
