a lover carefully picking the hairpins from the coil of his beloved's hair and flinging them to the floor, the wind plucks the white blossoms from the crown of the catalpa and throws them to the ground to nestle as white stars amongst a universal field of emerald st. augustine grass
in the creek thickets, a cardinal sings, "what cheer-cheer-cheer!" and a mockingbird joins in, scansorially leaping the musical scale with lilting glee while a woman spins about, cottonwood seedlings caught in her whirling hair like fairy orbs trapped there her arms outstretched so her fingers can caress the skies as she tilts her face to the heavens whispering, thank you...thank you...thank you... in her own fashion, singing praises to the universe like the birds...
