Ever I am the adoring thrall of dusk as it begins to slip and fall-- the heavens a delicate layer cake of color, stunning in light blue, pink and purple; the glowing moon a precious, platinum crescent, peeking over the horizon.
Yes, dusk harbors my favorite moments of any given twenty-four hour span-- ever on the cusp of this and that-- the last exhalation of the day, coupled and intermingled with the first inhalation of evening, rather like a kiss...

Whilst we were driving back from Wales the other day, I saw the most amazing sky of delicate pink and brown. At times nature can leave you completely awestruck

upstage, wispy clouds drift bellies shimmer kissed by the last rays of the setting sun; cottony tops veiled by the racing shadows of evening's entrance, downstage of the heavens
raspy buzz of locusts imitates the noise of hundreds of tiny tree saws crickets chir-chir-chirruping in accompaniment as I sit back and enjoy the show, from a deck chair on the patio

~the night...
evening creeps up on me with cat's paws quiet and unassuming until it pounces
platinum moon ascends her throne, the heavens attended by her retinue of scattershot, glimerous stars...
an orchestra of crickets tunes up and lets loose with a chir-chir-chirruping of tremulous noise
accompanied in the background by the bassoonic voice of the near distant sound of highway traffic
the dark silhouettes of the surrounding two-story houses rise over the wooden fence windows glowing like eyes from the the lights within
seemingly curious behemoths serene peeping toms watching me as I pen this poem about everything and absolutely nothing but my favorite setting... the night...

Fantasia...
rain drip drops plip plip plops onto the berumuda grass and the trees where it clings like handfuls of glitter thrown by a wandering child
mushrooms magically rise beneathe the cloud scattered skies while I stand on the porch smoking a cigarette enjoying not it, but the fantastical view, almost expecting to see a fairy or two flit across the lawn and the mushrooms begin to sway and dance

Mucho gracias, mi compadre! I'm such a city girl but I do so love witnessing nature's ever unfolding play of colors and situations...Does that make sense or did I just go near left field on you? LOL Good to see you feeling more like your old self, again, cause it just is and good to see you hanging about the house, throwing down ryhmes and chimes with the rest of the crew! SAbrina

~cooling off...
heavensent this natural gift... to step into the morning and find myself air kissed by a crisp breeze...
autumn whispers of the quiet shades of cooler times to come and be...
colors the humid heaviness of the Texas air-- even in September still redolent white with heat

the Texas wind isn't known for being prejudicial
blowing and tossing the thorn riddled crowns of the Mesquite trees as furiously as it does the sunburned blossoms of the rose bushes outside of the businesses along with my unruly tresses
now plastered to my lips stuck in the gooey gloss I just slicked across my mouth before I stepped out the door
forgetting, the Texas wind isn't known for being prejudicial

a singular piece of fruit the sun lays like an apricot on the plate of the early dawn horizon
befeathered jewelry a covey of doves bead the electric lines interspersed with the equally feathered gemmed spacers of other avarian species
I admire the quiet majesty of it all ever and always Nature's adoring thrall

November evening settles over the remains of the day as softly as a haphazardly thrown opera cape slithering from a love rumpled bed to whisper it's way to the floor...
Dusky breeze ruffles the crowns of the trees and inspires my curls to sway about my head in a dance of their own reminscent of the thoughts pirouretting through my mind...
Thoughtful things that become questions without ready answers or solutions... That soon slip and softly settle like a haphazardly thrown opera cape whispering from a love rumpled bed til I think of nothing...
At one with the wind and the evening my mind grows blank as I let go of future dreams and just blessed be who I am in this minute, this second...
Just a woman sitting on the stairs that looks as if she hasn't any cares, alone with the wind and the evening...

~wallflowers...
I look away from a wall of computers into the vista of a spring so early the tree crowns have not yet donned the new season's fuzzy verdure
the scraggly trees surround what's left of a dilapidated cabin built in the dogrun fashion white paint chipped and peeling in strips with red brick chimneys leaing precariously over the green roof, bent old men tired of playing sentinel and ready to fall into senility
tar paper shows in gaps where shingles have long been blown away by a merciless Texas thunderstorm of yesteryear an otherwise desolate picture of a home long abandoned by it's human inhabitants to the elements and nature
colorless and lifeless save for the shaggy, thick carpet of bluebonnets that flow in a floral river from the bottom of the picture right up to the sagging porch wallflowers bringing life to the painting and this boring office...

Clouds thin as discarded tissue paper scud across the night sky in scrims and scraps of diaphonous matter
The spaces betwixt and between them scattershot with the glimmer of stars
A broken white china plate of a half moon rises
As I dart across the street quick as a cat to the laundromat my eyes turned heavenward

Wind growls soughing through the tree boughs whipping the crowns into a sussurating frenzy
Wind howls a banshee outside the door giving the Christmas wreath what for, swinging it back and forth
Wind prowls through my thoughts reminding me it's time to do some winter time shopping as flip flops and capri pants aren't going to keep me warm as the temperature drops
