winter morning the sun is a smudge of silver in heavy grey clouds
snow falls slowly soft and light as eiderdown soundlessly falling down
snow is the blanket into which the day is received stillborn
with fingers long as icicles snow cradles the day in a cold iron grip
snow like a thief steals warmth pinches the glow from rosy cheeks til they turn a deathly pale
cheeks as pale as bones bones as white as snow pale and cold as death
snow falls like a curtain white and formless and still deep as dreamless sleep

Thanks!!! I have an urge to change the title of this, but maybe it will pass.
Winter can be very harsh here. I guess the up side of snow is that it brightens up what could be otherwise a long dark winter.

Thanks, Cheryl.
Yes, I see on the news that eastern Canada and the northeastern States have been hit pretty hard by a winter storm. A foot or two of snow in some places.
Stay warm and safe!

Enchanting work from the desk of our Glenn. Those who've not read it, enjoy!

Beyond awesome or astonishing. Glenn, all at once, your piece feels both eerily enticing ... yet hauntingly familiar.
I've spent some recent times enveloped in the billows of snow ... heavy and light. Every single sensation I was able to feel in those snow-adventures is articulated in sheer eloquence through your words.
I began to both love snow, and dread it, simultaneously. Your composition easily invokes that same paradox of emotions.
... It is utterly wonderful ...
Thank You so much for stirring up those ecstatic memorable responses ... they help me feel alive ... deeply alive again.
I'm totally compelled to add another *EXALT* (and then some ...) to join the praise the others offered.
