Your pet Cat.. Dog.. or whatever. Responds to being talked to and stroked..

... Then on the top rung!

Hell! You and I respond to being stroked and talked to!

So in the end... this is really a poem ABOUT LOVE!!!!

Because without love... we DIE!!
