early morning
wears a platinum shroud
of fog and drizzle
mist rises
in a silver haze
from the serene pewter
surface of the pond
in this liquidic atmosphere
drivers seem lost
in a daze, the glare
of their car lights
dimmed down
to a satiny sheen
of slow moving
beams
in the near
distance even
the voice of the train
is muffled to a dull echo
of its former roaring self
I steer my shushed spirit
through the palpable thickness
of the fog induced quietness
thankful for the beauty of days
that begin with a sibulant shhhhhhhhhhhh...
