Love is the only freedom in the world because it so elevates the spirit that the laws of humanity and the phenomena of nature do not alter its course.

We frail humans are at one time capable of the greatest good, and at the same time capable of the greatest evil. Change will only come about when each of us takes up the daily struggle ourselves to be more forgiving, compassionate, loving, and above all joyful, in the knowledge that by some miracle of grace we can change, as those around us can change too.

"We are in the process of creating what deserves to be called the idiot culture. Not an idiot sub-culture, which every society has bubbling beneath the surface and which can provide harmless fun; but the culture itself. For the first time, the weird and the stupid and the coarse are becoming our cultural norm, even our cultural ideal."

It's not funny anymore since the embassy violence in Libya - all incited by the nutty guy in Florida. I won't even call him a pastor. I have many choice names, but that would just be my "opinion."

As usual, perception is everything...When I read your line about Florida, I assumed you were poking fun at the the political campaigning in progress there during the last hurricane, etc...Blind as a bat, me!
I have a tendency, to get on the worksleepworksleepwork track and like a blinkered draft horse, am unaware of anything else going on about me. I hadn't the slightest idea the violence in Libya on Tuesday was associated with a silly film that lasted less than fifteen minutes.
I just looked the film up on Youtube and sat through it to the end. It is an opinionated, satirical piece of sh*t, but, I do not feel it should have been used as an excuse for what transpired on Tuesday, in Libya.

Troubling times, these.
Canada recently closed its embassy in Iran because of fears of attacks. Then the insane attack on the US embassy in Libya. Over a film no-one would have paid any attention to had not the attacks on the embassy happened.
Sometimes it makes me worry that worse things are coming. Things can sometimes spiral out of control over incidents such as these.
Hard to know what to make of it.
