Having been a member of various online poetry forums since approximately 2004, I find most of these creative outlet venues cycle through random jags of emptiness, Aims. We consider ourselves, at the very least, poets. A species, often afflicted by writer's block at one time or another...Usually, not all of us, at the same time, but, sometimes, en masse, for individual reasons, just don't have time to write. Employment keeps us running, stifles and all but kills our creative urges; or children or grandchildren are born to us and suddenly, something beyond the ink well and quill has our undivided attention; or those we love, grow ill and require our care; or we ourselves, grow ill and must tend to survival...Or we lose jobs and the ability to pay extra for internet service; or, our computers die on us, when we cannot afford to replace them... As many reasons, as there are stars in the sky for poetry forums, seemingly empty... Some people, like to visit one particular site at a time and then move onto another; others of us visit and share our work at more than one site, at a time to begin with... Holiday months, such as November and December, often find poetry forums seemingly empty... Okay, I'm out of reasons poetry forums seem empty... ? But, whatever the reasons, I know for a fact, I've seen this place go back and forth betwixt and between "active" times and "empty" times... I dunno...Perhaps, someone is killing and eating the few poets left out there, these days? hehehehehehehe
