Gathering Wool
My mother used to call it gathering wool, sitting still and letting my mind wander, remembering everyone I have ever loved and putting them in my Heart.
Wandering from the past to the present, I gather my family and friends that live now, my children, my grandchildren, and put them in my Heart.
I gather each mother's child, the innocence of humanity. I gather the beauty and harmony of the world, the wonder and mystery of the cosmos, and put them in my Heart.
And when all is gathered, I give my Heart to You and let all that I love merge into the great Love, the boundless Love, the unconditional Love, that lasts beyond the limits of time.

Absolutely fabulous! And a treat to hear/read that old phrase, again, besides tripping out of my own mouth! lol "Gathering wool", or, "wool gathering" are phrases that stun the millenials. They look at me like I'm crazy when I utter it and ask me what it means.
I love, love, love this piece, Dora.
Always, Sabrina.

Thank you so much (and also for knowing the phrase "gathering wool"). Some people use it differently, but that was my mom's admonition to me - "stop gathering wool" (ha). Hope you had a good turkey day. There is much to be grateful for. Thanks again.

You're so very welcome, sweets! The piece is utterly delightful and skillfully wrought. Thanks for sharing! I had a wonderful Turkey Day! Thanks for asking. I hope you did, too. Yes, much for all of us to be grateful for...So much...

I don't recall hearing that phrase before. It kinda makes sense to me. Heh, way to befuddle the millennials.
From my parents I picked up the phrase, "hold your horses." Used when I was over-enthusiastic as a kid and ran too far ahead of mom and/or dad.
Comes from the days predating the Model T.
With everybody getting urbanized, we're losing a lot of little nooks and crannies of culture. It's becoming increasingly harder for us to identify with our ancestors. There's a lot of sacred texts and myths that use pastoral/rural imagery. That alone is becoming a stumbling block to understanding the meaning of those stories. When those stories were written, everybody knew what a shepherd did, why we needed them, what social class they occupied, etc. And I just mis-typed 'shepherd' three times before I gave in and consulted the spell checker........
People these days think beef and chicken come from the supermarket, not the farm.......
