So how's everybody doing with the fallout of the elections this year? Anyone out there who wants to talk about what they're going through right now?
Me, I'm deeply concerned about the Republicans having full control of Congress and the Presidency. I do not trust Trump one iota. I don't trust his judgement. I don't trust the administration he would build up around him. I just wish I knew what I could do about it.......

Hey Phantasm. I too have been having a hard time, mainly just witnessing the distrust on the street. I am white and just want to wear a t-shirt saying "Don't look at me... I didn't vote for him." I want to smile and speak to every Hispanic and every black person who is looking at me with that distrust, and yet I catch my self looking at certain white men with that same distrust. My son has gotten dirty looks from women at the grocery store, yet he voted for Clinton. (ha) It may take some time for people to start trusting again, if we can. In the meantime, I have already signed a petition to impeach Trump. I believe it will happen sooner or later, preferably sooner.

I just signed the petition myself when I read what you wrote.
I think the Republican party is facing a civil war, it could tear the party apart. It's high time this country had a viable 3rd party to vote for, anyway...

The American Dream has just turned into a nightmare that will last for 4 years unless he is impeached but then we would have Mike "anti LGBT" Pence Mike creationist (you know God created the world and it's only 10,000 years old, and science is wrong) Pence so yeah nightmare lasts for 4 years!!!!

Day Thirteen of enduring the new president elect and his shenanigans. Captain's Log 11/21/2016
There are none so blind as those who will not see. I think this is the thing that pisses me off the most about the Trumpites. What do do they not understand?
Between the half of the country that didn't bother to vote; and the Trumpite vote, we now have a president elect with Putin's Russian phallus up his rectum. They cry, we didn't want another cold war. What? A Russian cock up America's ass warms you up? Gross. It pisses me off.
We now have a president elect that brutally raped a thirteen year old child and has more or less gotten away with it. A poor working class man wouldn't get that kind of gold plated treatment. He'd get thrown in prison, where he belongs for such a crime and raped by his cellmates. As a baby raper justly deserves. But, no. The Trumpites think this makes this monster presidential material simply because he's rich and white and he's not a woman. Smgdh.
Your grandparents that worked all of their god damned lives for the social security benefit check they live on now? Well, that's gone, too. Along with every shred of dignity the Trumpites ever had. But, then again, I'm not sure they ever had any. It's always amusing to see who votes for the dancing bear. But, it's not fun enduring the son of a beast for four years.

What petition are you talking about, Heart and Phant? I need input. I need to find it and sign it. This is the first election, I've cared about who should be in the White House, much less who shouldn't. As in the case, of Trumpless. And the scary thing about the Trumpites, no matter how much you rebutted their insane accusations against Hillary on social media with facts-it was a waste of time. Nor how much you rebutted the same type of accusations against here in the work lunchroom. Trumpites had made up their mind to vote for him, no matter what his past included. Including him being the first presidential nominee to not divulge his/her tax statements. But, that is the least of the lawless trail that follows him like a comet's tail through the night sky. Argh. I wish my country, America, nothing but the best. However, I wish Trump/Pence the worst four years of their life. I hope to continue to see the college kids and young adults of all colors rallying and protesting this son of a beast, the entire four years, for starters. Wirra. Wirra. Grrrrrrrrrr.

Here's the thing: they're acting pretty much solely on their emotions. There is no arguing with such people. You can't reason them out of positions they themselves didn't reason themselves into. There isn't much we can say that can get through to these people. Their minds are led by their ephemeral emotions, and their minds are made up. They are either not inclined to reason things out, or don't have enough formal exposure to logic such as through school or continuing education to even begin to reason out what they should believe in. This is the petition we're talking about, if we're all on the same page. (heh, that expression has new meaning on the Net.) Impeach Trump

You've hit the nail on the head describing the Trumpite mindset. I'm the only non-Republican in my huge family of Republicans in the Republican state of Texas. Suffice it say, I am not a rarity in this state. There are many non-Republican humans in Texas. But, here lately, I feel like the only one. My extended family is Rep; my work family, mostly Rep. November 9th, I walked into work and the checker closest to the door, displayed two thumbs up at me, in a jubilant fashion exclaiming, "Our man won! Our man won!" Dotty old non-professional bat, I couldn't resist putting her in her dotty old bat place. I gave her a dour look, my resting bitch face look and growled, "Not my man, your man. America and I lost last night." The look of shock on her face, as she said, "You mean you didn't vote for Trump?" Did I not just say that? ?

I signed it last night. We can only hope someone besides the NSA is listening to us all. LoL
I didn't share it on social media, as I have put a forty-eight hour moratorium on my anti-Trump bitchfest in that arena. An action, al beit small, to show my family and friends I am thankful for them.

I found something that fits well with this particular thread. It even has a poem at the end. It's about why the conservative type of person is fated to loose the war they're fighting in the long term. the long view of history

I've recently read a book I believe should be required high school reading, titled 'White Trash. The 400-Year Untold History of Class in America.' It is well written by author Nancy Isenberg, author of 'Fallen Founder'.

Stephen Prothero, a professor of religion at Boston University, in his new book, 'Why Liberals Win the Culture Wars – Even When They Lose Elections'. Thanks for the heads up, Phant. I've added this to my list of books to read.

I am concerned, I am still concerned over the outcome of this "election". No fear, no brains. Right? Haha Where is the "presidential" mien and manner he alluded to being capable of adopting if he "won"? These ongoing late night rants that put one in mind of a teenage girl drunk on the fruits of her parents' liquor cabinet spewing non-factual inanities in Twitter Land would be tragically funny to witness, ala Britney Spears shaving her head in a public manner-IF-this asshat wasn't the "president elect".
I'm reading some Trumpites have even started doubting their choice in voting for him. Well, duh. Ya think?

He's also going to be an executive producer on the Apprentice while in office. Hmmm, should he care more about his TV show or more about the country?

We have all been caught up in the American dream of pride, greed, ambition and this fear that Trump magnifies of being a loser. "Be the best." "Good guys finish last." This man is EGO personified, and his dream is the world's nightmare. We are supposed to learn something here, maybe each one of us something different, but I am determined to find out. For that I have to turn from him and look smack dab in the mirror. There is a Trump in each of us. It's called ego.

My opinion above is just that, my own ego's opinion, and we are all entitled to one. I just think this goes way beyond politics, beyond material polarization into a spiritual polarization. If you ask me who a modern Republican is, it's those that carry a copy of "Atlas Shrugged" around, and a Democrat is one who carries a copy of "Silent Spring". One says he is not his brother's keeper, and the other says everyone is part of the whole. And to top it off, we forget that both sides are part of the whole. No wonder I want to stay in the middle. My ego can't be totally selfless because it is a self, but my self does not want to be selfish. There's a poem in there somewhere. (Ha)

Yes, my friend. And I fear that the times shall remain so, for at least awhile, our Amy.
I've skimmed the comments and I so wish I could speak without cursing him and his cabinet and everything that they stand for, like the rest of y'all. I have a striven for a middle of the road position since 2016 much like you, our Dora. I have tried to understand the guttural response of his sycophants, these Trumpites, these actual living breathing folks that not only voted for him, but, had the crudity to brag about it.
I cannot see myself in the actions of this kracken nor those whom have voted for him and attended his rallies during the presidential race. I've seen people spit on. And they act shocked their entire group garnered the nickname the deplorables, due to the lowest common denominators in their faction.
No, I cannot see myself in him, in the Trumpites, in the kracken's cabinet choices, in the hate, bigotry, racism and misogyny he sows on a daily basis.
I feel bereft. Unmoored. And downright pissed off about it all. Ugh. There I go. LoL Shutting up.
