i'm curious...how often do you write? daily? when "inspiration" hits? i'd also like to know (as part of your answer) your goal for your writing...do you write just for personal exploration and improvement? do you write for "membership" in an online community, and to share your thoughts with others? do you write with an eye toward publication, whether it's current or down the road? i'll start things off by saying that i write in fits and starts (others may call what i do shits and farts, but that's another post entirely)...i don't necessarily write poetry every day...i'll sometimes go weeks without writing a line (or even thinking about poetry) and then i'll go days and days and days when i can't get away from my desk. while i don't write poetry every day, i DO do something related to my poetry every day...whether it's send stuff off to a magazine or do something related toward promoting my books...i always do SOMETHING every day. religiously. there, that's me. oh, and WHY do i write? i just don't know. take care... john

Hi, John, Good to see you! I am always writing, always. I used to write on little pieces of paper and my pockets and purses would be full of poetry lines like a puzzle. I would sit and pull them out. Sometimes it is just a word, or a line that comes to me. (?) Sometimes I hand write my poems and then type them, sometimes I just get set on fire and plug them out.....(?) Sometimes, like you, I might go a while and not write poetry, but I am still jotting down words and lines...... Sam

I write therefore I am... whether it is inspirational or methodical, for profit or self exploration is meaningless... I write therefore I am
I just write.
