All Now
Fireflies alight in the dark warm air of the night.
The stars in the cloudless sky twinkle,
they are the ancient witnesses of time
keeping confidential it’s secrets in silence.
We wish we knew those secrets
we wish we had all the answers
we here on this earth without a textbook for life
without a dictionary,
trying to discern answers, definitions, purposes,
truth, reality.
What we have is our beliefs,
and
our theories,
our proofs,
our logic,
to support and validate them.
We think security,
stability
lies in knowing
in having it all figured out.
That is why we hate,
why we quarrel,
why we make war,
because the voice of the creator of this existence does not thunder throughout the earth
confirming the right answers when they are expressed.
Your opposing belief
challenges mine.
Off in the distance
the future is a formless blur,
we wish we knew all of it’s secrets.
We don’t like uncertainty,
not knowing,
we think anyway.
We like pleasant surprises,
don’t we?
Guess where they live?
They live in the realm of
the not known
until they are revealed to us
and give us pleasure.
Uncertainty,
not knowing is our favorite friend
when it gives us these.
The problem is we are acutely aware
that pleasant surprises
are not all that
the unknown
consists of.
We don’t like that.
Our contentment
does not lie in full complete knowledge.
Absolute knowledge of all there is to know,
now in our current existence here on earth,
would not make us happy.
Absolute knowledge
would necessarily
have to include
the experiential
realm.
In absolute knowledge
there is no learning
no discovering
no surprises
no unknown experiences.
If you and I are in love,
but yet to be intimate,
and today
I receive absolute
knowledge,
I have, in a sense
been robbed
of that special
first time.
Oh, I know the experience already of that first time,
and every one thereafter
so now in a way
if I actively participate in an experience
it’s like having a picture
and pasting a duplicate over it.
I don’t need to talk to anyone ever again
because I not only know the content of every
conversation,
but the experience
of it as well,
in fact,
if I have absolute knowledge in this moment
I do not just know everything
or have every experience
right now in this instant
no I have every experience,
from start to finish,
now.
All there is,
all there is to know
and every moment of eternity
with all it contains
is present with me now
all crammed into this moment
I know, feel, smell, taste,
see, hear, and do
all now concurrently in this instant
and everyone thereafter,
and, in this instant,
every one thereafter.
