what do you see?
Do you label my being
with every degree?
When you look at me
is anger in thee?
Or do you see
the true me?
When you look at me
do you shake your head?
Do you even possibly
try to comprehend?
When you look at me
Is there a film
over your eyes?
When you look at me
do you wear a disguise?
Do you question what
you may perceive?
Do you walk blindly
with the rest of the sea?
When you look at me
What do you see?
Oppression
or someone who is free?
When you look at me
with no eyes at all.
When you hear my words
my every call.
When you look at me
shut your eyes
open your mind.
Let not society
be your guide.
When you look at me
Look at all of me.
For I am a woman
for I do believe.
Look at me!
For I am not
a conformer to society.
Look at me!
I bow to no one but HE!
When you look at me
what to you see?
Do you think before you judge?
For I am a righteous woman,
A Believer
