Since I was a god I’ve felt death come alive Ate from the rotted apple Consumed by the poison that lies inside
Temptress was her name Keeps my soul upon her lips Bit into my bleeding heart Killed me with just one kiss
Given to you, I sacrifice my pain Cuts right though, the memories you’ve slain And when you beckon, I know just what to do This day of reckoning, on my knees I come to you
Funeral at dawn The night has gone too long Throwing wilted roses at her feet The grave is where I’m drawn
Deep inside her bed A coffin made of lead Shaking dirt from my closed eyes Reminds me of being dead
Given to you, I vanquish all my hate Love without truth, the lies become my fate And when you cry, I know that it is my cue Before I die, on my knees I come to you
Got me on all fours And still I beg for more The apple that you gave to me Was nothing but a core
Empty and decayed Like the times I prayed To the god that I once was Now a demon who can’t be saved
Driven to you by the things you say If you want proof, devotion’s just a suicide away The tighter your grip, the more I want to believe It’s me you worship, so now get on your knees

Whew! Correction: DOUBLE DRATTED WHEW!!!!!!! Hellaciously, deliciously dark poeming...Sounded like hard rock lyrics slamming through my head...I'm wondering...Do you write the pieces and then find the visuals to match them...Or, do you find the visuals, first... And then write what the visuals inspire? Or both? Either way, count me flabbergasted... Anir.

Hi Anir & thanks for the comment. Usually I write the piece then find an image to go along with it. But there has been times I have come across artwork that inspires me to write something or the photoshop editing I do to my own pics sometimes go hand in hand with the poem. Depending on the picture I find my inspiration. With this piece I was going for something seductive, divine, with a touch of eroticism and yet tell a story of how one can give up their power for what they believe is love but ends up being lust and lies and in the end taking that power back. Glad you enjoyed it and yes, there will be more hehe. ~ Troy
