of the damned
if I do and equally
damned if I don't pack
Cursed and haunted
by a past filled with beings
whose minds are more
than a bit unhinged
Seemingly always
finding what I already knew--
You can break the chain,
run and run and run
to find a safe haven
hoping never to have
to look back
Makes no difference
the past and it's minions
always make an attack--
especially when you least expect it
Control freaks need their fix
and their fix is you--
always there draining
your energy no matter
what you do
Nowhere to hide
to escape snide remarks
and odious threats of mental
anguish or physical harm
Somewhere there has to be a charm
something like garlic that can ward
off the human monsters
that just won't let well
enough alone
Or let a dog run free
like the wolfchild
she was meant to be
Funny, so close to tasting
freedom only to find
what you already knew--
