Great Photos Glen Hope you don't mind me adding a couple of Sunset pics I took in Spain? The first one is looking due west into the sun, and the second one is looking south down towards the Mediterranean

Nice photos, David.
I find the sky very interesting. Never the same twice it seems. And there is something inspiring about looking up into the heavens, too. Puts "me" into perspective.

There is a ranch that keeps cattle in the fields adjacent to this road. My last trip, at the crest of a small hill, I came upon a small herd of cows grazing some distance away. The minute they spotted me they came galloping toward me at full speed. I must admit I had visions of being trampled in a cattle stampede. But they just kept pace with me on their side of the fence, excitedly prancing along. I suppose they must have thought I was bringing hay or grain for them to eat.

Not sure why I like this photo. Something about the windblown tree and the golden sky. Taken at full zoom down into the western valley, over the hilltop and past the houses.

Oh, these are absolutely beautiful, Glenn....especially the road...I would love that road to walk anyday , and that sky of fire in the trees, that is the only pic I've ever seen to do that...to really show it as looking like fire. I absolutely LOVE it.

Thanks, Bronwyn. That road is a good one for walking along. Very little traffic. Very quiet.
Last trip I spotted 3 or maybe 4 peregrine falcons hunting rodents in the fields. I see osprey, grey jays, and occasionally hummingbirds as I ride. There are chokecherry and pin cherry bushes that grow near the road, and from the droppings left on the road it is plain that black bears come in the night and feed here. A few years back a cougar followed me as I cross-country skiied in this area. Quite a scare to see such a dangerous animal only 40 or 50 yards away!
I'm not very confident using the camera yet. Digital cameras are a bit tricky to use. A wrong setting can make all the colours quite bizarre. I took one of myself that made me look deathly ill with jaundice. Still not sure what I did wrong there.
Be well!

Oh Glenn, you're such a great, beautiful guy. I so enjoy reading your words....and this whole path...with all it's stories of events....it is just awesome.....just awesome to imagine getting to have something like that.... with all those animals to see, too.... how wonderful, even if it feels dangerous at times...it still seems wonderful to me. too bad the pic didn't come out of you....yes, please try again. There is a path here for San Franciscans that want a nature trail....well, it is one of my favorites called Tennessee Valley Road...and I too saw some sort of 'Cat' not too far away from me one time there.....but I had no fear. In fact, that is the thing I look forward to the most....critters and animals showing up, besides getting to see the horses. Last fun time I had there I found a beautiful sweet Salamander...in the creek...he didn't even fight to get away when I picked him/her up......and just layed in my hands.... I love nature like that. Please tell me any stories you might have more of... that you haven't said yet.

Hay harvest. The local practice is to cut the hay and gather it into large rolls. Some folks still bale it, but bales are more labour intensive.

So enjoy perusing these pictures, Glenn... Showed them to one of my sisters the other evening and had her oohing and ahhing...Neither of us had any idea, Canada is so breathtakingly beautiful...We've always thought of it as buried under blankets of snow and ice...

My feeling is that all places have a special beauty all of their own. Just takes a bit of looking for it. There is a parkland that runs along the eastern edge of the Rocky Mountains of Alberta that has some fantastic scenery. Misty lakes that appear unexpectedly beneath towering mountains. Weather that can change from summer sun to howling blizzard and back again in the space of an afternoon. When I lived in Calgary I would drive through that area as often as I could. If you ever are up that way and have the time to do so, take a drive through Kananaskis country. It is a prime spot in winter for cross-country skiing and in summer for hiking and camping. tprc.alberta.ca/parks/kananaskis/flashindex.aspI have seen some very pretty photos of Texas, too. Got any you would like to share???
