The Panda Bear Massacre
I suppose it's your little girlie giggle which draws my wayward thoughts toward you, that and the simple fact you are the only one who laughs outright at my puny jokes. Several thousand years ago man had no words to express or confess his love for another. A simple moan, a lusty grunt often was enough to get the woman of his dreams. And if that didn't do the trick, well, he could always find a nice big stick to persuade her. But we're civilized now. We use words to strike a blow for amour. We convey our hearts desire by "comparing thee to a summer's night," or by "doubting truth to be a liar." We conspire on computers to transcend the ocean floor below, the darkest heavens above with electronic pulses representing love. Holding hands via a keyboard, broad bands and plasma screens seems a tad obscene. Allow electricity to do our wooing for us? Oh, I must protest! I'd rather sit here at the Jewish Temple watching the tears flow from your beautiful eyes and you try to stifle a laugh as I tell you the story of the panda bear who goes into a bar...

i've got to say...i saw the title of this (before i saw that you were the author)...uh, where was i? oh, yeah...i saw your name on the title and i was preparing myself to be assaulted by something sickeningly sweet and god-awful...but then (like i said) i saw your name and was not surprised at all to find a witty, intelligent and finely crafted poem. your poems are a wonderful discovery to me (i'm happy to say). you don't try to hit anybody over the head with any grand pronouncements: AN ODE TO THE LOVE OF MY LIFE...or: LIFE IS LIKE A RIVER...you know the stuff i'm talking about. people seem to have forgotten that less is more. subtlety is an art. and you, my friend, have got that figured out.

Its beautiful rrw. We have become very artificial in every aspect of our lives. Everything is clean cut, calculated smooth-lined like a modern stainless steel kitchen. And we call this progress. Vixen

Hey, thanks, John. I think love poetry is extremely difficult to write because it is so hard to be original with it. A lot of great poets have hit it on the head way back when. It takes really looking at it personally to ever get a smidgen of originality. I do have some rather "mushy" poems that I'll probably post at sometime or another. The compliment on my writes coming from you is very rewarding. Thanks again.

Vixen Well, technology is a blessing and a curse. I may be way old fashion but the idea of falling in love with somebody over the Internet without ever seeing them in the flesh is way beyond my understanding. Thanks for the read, Vix.

I am never disappointed or left wondering where the story is within your poems, in fact more often than not, I find my own thoughts turning over, as inspiratino flows through me.
Thank you for sharing this delightful and beautifully written piece. Kudos to you, my friend.

A panda bear walks into a bar, and tells the bartender that he wants to have lunch. The bartender gives him a menu and he orders.
The panda bear eats his lunch, and when he finishes, he gets up to leave. Suddenly, the panda bear pulls an AK-47 out of his fur, and shoots the bar to pieces. He then heads for the door.
The shocked bartender jumps out from behind the destroyed bar and yells, "Hey, what do you think you're doing? You ate lunch, shot up my bar, and now you're just going to leave?"
The panda bear answers calmlly, "I'm a panda bear." The bartender says, "Yeah, so?" The panda bear replies, "Look it up," and walks out the door.
The bartender jumps back behind the ruined bar and grabs his encyclopedia. He looks up "panda bear," and sure enough, there is a picture of the panda bear.
He reads the caption, which says, "Panda Bear--a cuddly, black and white creature. Eats shoots and leaves."

Heeheehee! That's exactly the story I was telling my friend in Temple and she started to laugh so hard she cried! I guy walks into a bar and asks the bartender, "Do you know a crazy hunchback named Quasimodo?" The bartender thinks for a moment and says, " No, doesn't ring a bell."

Absolutely mahveelous romance poeming, RRW! It's a *CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!* offering, if ever I saw one... I'm always amazed when our male poets actually dare to turn their hand to romance poeming...However, I notice you put it in the general population, instead of daring to post in the actual romance board...hehehehehehehehehe...Couldn't resist, daring to point that out...*t-he*... Elegant and elegantly funny romance poeming, RRW! Got more? Nir.

What I noticed, was the spark of realism to be found in the romance dancing through the piece...The mark of reality? It's endearing klutziness...Your word, klutz, mon frere, not mine...LOL...Nir

I think my poetry is often sad, but with a sense of humor about it. There's so much out there to write about. We just have to recognize it.
