Last Song

There once was a time when I asked for a way
to think from my Heart to keep shadows at bay.
Three little words were my inspiration.
"Think Good Thoughts" was my affirmation.

There once was a time when I asked for a way
to speak from my Heart, and You brought me halfway
to hear words of Love from the Heart to the Mind
when I turned from the ego and put it behind.

There once was a time when I asked for a way
to live from my Heart, to please let me stay
in this gentle, humble, gracious place
where Heart and Soul and Mind embrace.

A year has passed, time has come and gone.
I've penned some poems to sing my song.
But where is the turn on the path up ahead
that leads to the Heart that I long for instead?

I modified this poem somewhat to reflect my longing to "live" love rather than think about it, hear about it, or write about it. I've been doing a lot of modifications and deletes lately. Hope this isn't my last song.
