cut now this piece of string and fall and roll and stop where you may
i have somewhere to go and i haven't seen it in a while really
as if this does an everyday thing of filling and emptying my hand
i clock in and clock out near the same time
all the time
some of the time nearly
sold that time, for a slice of pie
aren't i square
square enough perhaps in a basic way
well rounded for the rest and a relic
more or less centered on the past
returning in this uncut loop
never seeming to completely cast away
have you felt the sun on your cheek lately
has the rain ruined all your tresses
soaked your shirt tight against you
hold the pole yourself, let me be untethered
and go farther than this shadow cast
by all I am bound to
and bound for
that I am bound at all
yet not gagged
some caged birds sing sweet songs
over the insanity they have weathered
because they have forgotten what it means
to fly
enough
enough
then

ok reading this it made me imagine being out on the road in the rain clothes soaked through, it's what I like about your writing it puts me in touch with life, makes my hand touch the rain-slicked bus stop pole.
