restless grow my thoughts
bouncing off the walls of my skull
crazy atoms with nowhere to go

my spirit seeks connections
splatting against a wall of rejections
a wild hair I'm ready to split
in five different directions

this body, my erstwhile vessel
my conveyance through the third dimension
seems to have sprung a flat, or two, or three
or four but I seem to keep on roll, roll, rolling
along on rims the engine will have to blow to stop me

I always knew life is a mess whether you need a belief
system or not I was born in the trenches reality
is my mother and my jailer I know the score
no one gets out alive that ain't no jive
I still have faith and hope

you don't need religion
to have those two
they are a pair of shoes
one chooses to wear
