The Hammock
The hammock was cherry red, standing out like a bright centerpiece on the freshly-mowed lawn. It wasn't mine, since I was just visiting, but it called to me like a long-lost friend -- relax, take it easy and enjoy -- which I finally did yesterday, hope to do today, and plan to do every day for the rest of my life.
For I found new meaning in the term "loosen up" as I swung gently side-to-side, which is so much better than forward and backward like thoughts that run back and forth in endless seeking. In the hammock's embrace, I had no thoughts of endeavors, no thoughts of worries, no thoughts at all except to relax, take it easy, and enjoy.
This is what a vacation is all about, and now I know I can take one every day for the rest of my life when I get home and buy a cherry red hammock of my own.
