because you are the sustenance
that I am so hungry for.
You are the feast
not laid out upon my bed,
the thirst yet to be slaked
the balm that could heal my weary patchwork heart.
Yours the ears
my hearts cries never reach,
falling silent against the walls
of self-imprisonment,
meant to protect you and me,
you from the awkward discomfort
of having to break my heart,
and mine from the heartbreak
that would see this heart drowned,
mortally wounded
but not freed,
only time has that power.
I don't need one more nail in the coffin
that will bury my ability to believe that I am not forever doomed
cursed at LOVE.
