Future shock.
I give to you, who read these lines,
Just a little glimpse of future times,
So perhaps you may then understand,
Your destiny is held firmly in your hands.
Today perhaps some can’t comprehend,
That our tenure at the top might end,
We hold Presumptions in our minds,
Quick answers might we find.
Do you really think you can carry on?
Degrading life till it is gone,
Each living cell has its part to play,
And soon will come your judgement day.
Look forward on the path my friend,
Where war and famine has no end,
Just fighting even for a breath,
With plant life brown and close to death.
The seas polluted to extreme,
Where once creatures used to teem,
Life malformed, just getting by,
As they squirm through toxic plastic tides.
The human race still holds their crown,
Depleted; but just not quite down,
Evolving downwards with technology,
Perhaps too late to save ecology.
Think upon the paths we take,
Our future really is at stake,
As are those who share this place,
There is more at stake than just the human race.
How fragile is the world you know,
For if we expire in its ebb and flow,
No tears will fall with our demise,
As another from the dust will rise.
Darkness.
