sold my soul to the devil but the devil gave it back, gave my heart for the trouble but the trouble turned it black now i tried to be happy but I'm missing what I lack and the world's upside down, my emotions out of wack.
I could find ruby red, I could try to get it back Make my heart come alive, melt away its rancid black But I fear what I'll find; if my heart is really black Through and through, to the soul; if the light is what I lack.
I can hear how he laughs, how the devil sees my plight "Give it up, you will lose," says the devil in his might. But I won't give it up. Oh I know I need to fight. I will mend what I lost. I will climb into the light!
I have found a new love; I have found the strength to fight. And my heart's filled with red, oh my soul's a blinding white "You have lost," I declare, and I know that I am right. As I leave my old hell, and I climb into the light.

*CLAP! CLAP! CLAP!*
Excellent write! Loved its beat and both its inner and outer rhyme scheme.
Great to have you back, my friend! By any moniker. "A rose by any other name is still a rose" or some such.
