Kirk stands on the burning bridge, the Klingon’s in his sight,

Scotty shouts through the intercom, “We’ll not give up without a fight,”

“I’ve changed the phase inducers and jury rigged the coils,”

“When you next use all the phasers, you’ll give all the Klingon's Boils.”



Spock is working very hard to make sense of all the data,

But Kirk thinks it is a waste of time and doesn’t really matter,

There is a female alien he’s made a date to see on Sirus three,

Alas the captain does not know she looks just like a gnarled old tree.



Meanwhile within the sickbay old Bones is having trouble,

He’s found out something recently that’s really burst his bubble,

Nurse Chapel swabs the sick bay without her usual quibble,

Like all the crew she knows last weeks duck was actually a Tribble!



Sulu scans the planet they are orbiting in sector four,

But Chekhov finds it funny as they’ve all been here before,

He remembers all the funny things that happened on that day,

Like the alien that decided to take all their clothes away.



“Illogical,” Spock had said as they shivered in the cold,

Uhura looked at Kirk and said “You’re really looking old!”

Scotty took a different line “let’s all try to stay calm,”

So they all looked round for foliage to hide each others charms.



Those happy days are over now; their mission now is through,

The Enterprise is mothballed now not needing any crew,

Of Kirk and Spock and all the people who once served on that ship,

They’re out in space for they have given the old folks home the slip.

I thought you were observing the death of one of the actors, the way I was reading it.
I was trawling IMDB for Star Trek actors that recently died. No one within a week or so of the original post, that I noticed.
One nuTrek actor died three years ago, to the day, I thought at first, but no, that was in June, not July.

So.... I take it you were eulogizing the actors who've died, more generally, and not a particular person?



I'm a pretty big Star Trek fan, too, btw.

Actually I was eulogizing the series, and those that have gone. I am a great fan of the series too BTW anirbas.

Star trek TOS was groundbreaking in many ways, and was not afraid to bring up issues that effected us then, and now, and sparked the imagination of many. And it is true to say that in general science fiction can become science fact.
