HAMMOCK REALM

my hammock
upon which I recline
attended by a royal entourage
of fluff-pillows and plush-blankets
on such a hushed autumn morning as this
faintly chilled breeze slowly swirls its casual ballet
●
my hammock
its contour-web enveloping me
escorting me into comfort's sublime meditation
new-day's sun comes peeking through tree-canopies
spreading a tapestry of lacey leaf-shadows
as mutually they waltz upon every random surface
●
my hammock
the voice of its end-rails creak in tune
thus accompanying a similar rhythmic sway-song
echoed through each tree's limb-and-branch silhouette
to join the collective orchestral tone-poem
performed by visiting birds in momentary residence
●
my hammock
upon which I am suspended
beside patio-fountain's rainbow spray
amid fragrant clouds of flowered aroma
within filtered shade of tree-top umbrella
among backyard creatures playing hide-n-seek
●
my hammock
and the surprise caprice of my two kittens
who have both cunningly discovered this idyllic scene
launching themselves from wood deck onto me · in daring leaps
burrowing their individual hide-away tunnel-caves
into my palace-of-pillows and castle-of-blankets
●
our hammock
the three of us together happily share
when-upon early-autumn leaves touch down
kitten-to-kitten-play becomes "catch-a-falling-leaf "
with kittens, leaves, pillows, blankets, hammock,
and my delighted self · all rocking to-and-fro in the ruckus
●
our hammock
seemingly a playpen of frenzied frolic
I'm hence wondering if sleep's vacation-time
was actually to be my destiny this particular day
though when hoping to quell their whimsical commotion
affectionate hands petting kitten heads easily charms them
●
our hammock
at last and once again a serene realm
as two precious kittens soon find their enchanted bliss
enfolded in my arms · we now lay cradled in hammock's envelope
their soothing purr-chorus casts its gentle feline spell on me
while we join this pastoral enclave · all fading into slumber's leisurely breath
