Who are the modern day Pharisees? Who were the Pharisees? They were the people most criticized by Jesus. Why? They pointed to peoples sins, and offered them as reason that those people must be the outcasts of society, and excluded from the Kingdom of God. So, who are the modern day Pharisees? Do some of them call themselves followers of Christ?
(This was written from a Christian point of view and most assuredly not intended to offend anyone who does not ascribe to Christian beliefs.)

I know this won't mean that much to you friends here but I am just jumping for joy because I finally found a church that really feels like home, the Episcopal church, where I am among like minded folks and don't have to hide anything about myself or what I think and believe in be it social or political, I am at home a liberal minded person among the same. so here is something I am proud to posses:

Thanks all!
Cleveland, Bishop Daniel was talking to our Christian Ed class before the service and he basically said there were so churches or diocese clamoring about wanting alternative primacial athority having to do with the new presiding Bishop Kathryn but he also said that was an oxymoron because our presiding Bishop in the episcopal church does not have primacial athority, the general convention does, and the bishop said that as far as he was concerned if they are wanting some bishop from Uganda to be their primacial athority then what they really want is to leave the episcopal churchand become part of the Ugandan(or whatever. . .) church because although we are all anglican the anglican church is really a family of nationally independant churches in relationship with the archbishop of canterberry, and he said that a diocese cannot leave the church those woho want to can and the chuch should then go in and gather those who are still faithful to the episcopal church and elect new vestries for each church and bring in new clergy. And all this because some conservatives are up in arms because our new presiding bishop (pretty much a figurehead without power) is a female and (I don't know that much about her so I'm just assuming>>>)who has liberal leanings.
Now, your porbably thinking, that was more than you ever wanted to know about the episcopal church, sorry, It's just what came to mind reading your comment about the bishop friend of your friends and the trouble brewing. Peace Amy

Amy, Congratulations! I am so happy for you! I, too, have found a new church home. I have never enjoyed a worship service as much as I do these and I have been made welcome and feel at home there. If you look for trouble, you can find it just about anywhere, for satan is alive and well and he does so enjoy throwing the negative around! Surround yourself with positive feelings and rejoice and worship the Lord and just watch him slither away. Rejoice in the Lord today....nothing else matters. What a wonderful season you are entering into with your new church home! Much love, Sam

Hi Amy, No, i am interested... I've heard these tales so many times over dinner i should be more familiar... there was a vote a while back to my understanding reguarding the Gay clergy - i suppose it didn't get much press... anyway I apologize for spreading hear say particularly since it is obvious Peter is not the Bishop but was passed over perhaps due to his vote reguarding this issue... it gets complictated... he and his wife are from Chapel Hill... i'll have to ask my friends when they get back from Ireland... in spirit tl

yes, It is great Sam, and I am so glad for you too! peace and joy to you!!
Cleveland,
Yes we just had the general convention that elected Kathryn, but the one before it (every three years) elected Gene Robinson a gay partnered man as bishop in Massachusetts, I believe, and as I understand it that has been a big controversy and as i mentioned before Kathryn I believe would not be counted among the conservatives so her being elected kind of signals a solidification of that earlier election of Gene Robinson, there are other gay clergy but He is the first to be elected a Bishop, so the conservatives are all bent out of shape.
Peace,
Amy
